Ministry Of Life

Ministry of Life are delivering a blended approach to youth work combining virtual and physical youth work activities. We were recognised by Social Firms Wales and Wales Coop as one of the first organisations to innovate our approach to the lockdown. Find out more information about our innovative approach.

We have also featured on ITV Wales News for this work in partnership with Cardiff Youth Service at East Moors Youth Centre.

We have been engaging with all of our groups through online messenger which has supported continuous engagement. We are delivering online music events, online cv writing sessions, socially distanced walks and general mentoring and support. The youth sessions are run on a weekly basis and there are a whole variety of activities to get involved in. We run open mic nights every week on a Wednesday evening as well as socially distanced walks.

A trail-blazing Virtual Reality (VR) initiative called "Virtual Reality Decisions" is also being rolled out, providing young people with an immersive experience allowing them to navigate a series of challenging situations and make critical decisions in a safe and controlled virtual environment. This hands-on approach to exploring topics such as gangs, grooming, peer pressure, and substance misuse, equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make the best choices for their future, in real-life scenarios.

Positive feedback from secondary schools across the city, has highlighted the effectiveness of the projects, which have been shaped using the views of young people. Those who have taken part have enjoyed the programmes, saying that they met their needs of giving them more awareness of the signs of grooming.

Cabinet Member for Tackling Poverty, Equality and Supporting Young People, Cllr Peter Bradbury said: "These new initiatives aim to foster a safer community by empowering young individuals to make positive life choices and challenge the destructive influences of crime and violence.

"Cardiff Council remains committed to providing comprehensive support and resources to young people in our communities and these innovative initiatives further strengthen our resolve to tackle the challenges faced by our youth and create a brighter, safer future for all."

Cardiff Youth Service provides opportunities for young people aged between 11 and 25 to get involved in programmes and projects across the city of Cardiff. Young people can participate in a range of fun activities and educational programmes within our Centre’s across the city and there is something for everyone, whether you want to get involved or just relax and have fun with friends this is the place to be.

We also deliver bespoke programmes that enable young people to develop or increase existing skills that are key in the development of confidence, motivation, problem solving, team work, having your voice heard, action planning and goal setting that are all skills that will enhance your CV or future applications for education, training and employment opportunities.
