Cardiff Branding

I live in Cardiff and here the streets are just filled with rubbish! Whenever I walk out of my house I see lots of rubbish on the streets, this is bad for the environment. This is our world, and we need to take care of it. This may be due to the fact that there are not too many rubbish bins around. I think that there should be some more bins around Cardiff, the bins are often overflowing and need to be emptied more often.

Our actions are going to create consequences if we do not change our ways. Whenever me and my family go to Cardiff Bay wetlands the water seems to be getting more and more full of rubbish, the ducks are slowly getting pushed out of their habitat. Although you might think they are just ducks every animal is part of the eco system and has an important role.

I think looking after our planet should be taught from a young age, for example schools could be doing litter picks with children. When you actually pick up the rubbish it will make you more reluctant to throw it. I have joined in with local litter-picks before and we’ve even organised litter-picks for home-schooled children like myself.

In other countries such as Ecuador they have incentives such as if you hand in plastic bottles you will receive something like a free bus ticket, in over two months the Ecuadorian community recycled over 24,000 plastic bottles. Something such as 15 bottles will earn them a bus ticket. I think this is a really clever idea. Money will not save our environment, actions will.

Thank you
